In the sate, Uttar Pradesh, City of Jhansi is located. Jhansi is placed at the distance of about 415 km from Delhi and 292 km from Lucknow. Jhansi is also the entrance to Bundelkhand. During the empire of Marathas Jhansi grew in fame because of its courageous queen, Rani Lakshmi Bai. Who battled bravely in opposition to the Britishers during the 1857 revolt.

When Orchha was the capital of Bundelas at that time the Jhansi was identified as Shankargarh. The king of Orchha, Raja Bir Singh Ja Deo, build up a citadel on a hill in Shankargarh, In a proposition of intensification the safety of Orchha.When King stared at this new built fort from his Orchha palace, then it seems to be appear looked like a jhain-si (indistinct shadow). And that is how Jhansi got its current name.

Jhansi is also the secretarial chair of Jhansi Division and District. Because of the excellent efforts of developing highways put up by the Ex Prime Minister results to a vast development in the growth of Jhansi. Only because of these efforts you find the East-West passageway, and the North-South passageway between Kashmir and Kanyakumari, pass through Jhansi. In 1766 Vishwas Rao Laxman was made the subedar of Jhansi. His period was from 1766 to 1769. After him Raghunath Rao (II) Newalkar was appointed the subedar of Jhansi. He was a very able administrator. He increased the revenue of the state. The MahaLakshmi Temple and the Raghunath Temple were built by him. For his own residence he constructed a beautiful building Rani Mahal in the city. In 1796 Raghunath Rao passed the subedari in favour of his brother Shiv Rao Hari.

Jhansi Fort, Jhansi
The Jhansi Fort was constructed formerly by Raja Bir Singh Ji Deo in 1613. It is positioned upon a shaky hill.

Rani Mahal, Jhansi
In Jhansi this palace was previously the house of Rani Laxmibai. Now the Archaeological Survey of India preserve the fine assortment of carvings belong to the epoch between 9th and 12th centuries A.D.

Orchha (M.P.)
18 km from Jhansi, Orchha is a city, frozen in time. It was founded in the 16th century by the Bundela chieftain, Rudra Pratap Singh, who built this new capital on a large wooded island, on the river Betwa. Today, remains of the fort and palaces speak eloquently of Orchha?s time of glory, of its splendid legacy of art and culture.

Barua Sagar
Baruasagar is on the route to Khajuraho from Jhansi and about 24 kms from Jhansi, Baruasagar is the momentous place where in 1744 the clash between the Peshwas and the Bundelas soldiers was come to blows. This place is named so because, about 260 years past Raja Udit Singh of Orchha erected a great wall which result into the formation lake Barua Sagar Taal, that is how it got its name.

By Air - The nearest airports to the Jhansi are Gwalior - 103 km and Khajuraho - 175 km which are very well connected by the flight from Delhi, Varanasi with some other parts also.

By Rail - Central railways and the Junction along the Mumbai (Bombay) - Delhi route make it well linked with the entire country.
